Endless Possibilities in LA: Sid Lee's Caroline Britt

Caroline Britt
Head of Client Leadership & Operations Sid Lee

Tell us a bit about yourself and your current role.

Originally from Australia, I have over 16 years of experience working in agencies across the globe, including M&C Saatchi Sydney, AMV BBDO in London, 72andSunny Amsterdam and 180Amsterdam and R/GA and TBWA\Chiat\Day in LA.

Currently, I’m the Head of Client Leadership and Operations at Sid Lee LA. It’s a diverse role that includes helping to manage the day to day running of the agency from an operational perspective, leading and growing the Account Management Team and working on new business, all while maintaining proximity to the creative output of the agency. It’s truly the best combination of all disciplines.

How would you describe the culture of Los Angeles?

LA is a crossroads of cultures and one of the most diverse cities in the world. Additionally, this city is entrepreneurial and creatively driven, while still being mindful and down to earth.

In what ways does the city of Los Angeles inspire you?

I’ve always been inspired by the city’s ability to continuously evolve, reinvent itself and grow in unexpected directions—from food to sports to civic progress.  Also, the constant sunshine doesn’t hurt.

Los Angeles is a hotspot for so many young talents and industry leaders. What has contributed to that?

It’s a city that welcomes all types of people and as the entertainment capital of the world, LA is a lighthouse for people with great imaginations who don’t see limitations, but instead see endless possibilities.

What would you say is the most unique aspect Los Angeles offers agencies?

Given the sunshine and focus on wellness by most locals, work-life balance is more attainable in this city, as opposed to others like NYC that are fast-paced and constantly on. For this reason, LA agency folk do a good job of taking care of themselves, whether they're surfing in the morning or taking an after-work hike, while still putting a lot of energy and focus into their jobs. LA naturally encourages a great blend of the personal and professional sides of life.

What is your favorite hidden-gem in Los Angeles?

Santa Monica Swimming Pool – it’s a public pool where I do laps every morning before work.

If you could change something about Los Angeles, what would it be?

As cliché as it sounds, I’d love to lessen the amount of traffic and improve the accessibility to get from one side of the city to the other.
