The third edition of Digital Design Days (DDD) took place in Milan, Italy last weekend (March 16 to 18) with an impressive line-up of speakers, workshops, master classes and digital installations.

DDD has drawn increasing attention from the art and design community. This year over 2200 participants from more than 50 countries attended the event, which was founded by designer Filippo Spiezia.

Guests mingled with Marvel Comic’s Head of Design Victor Veras; David Carson, an award-winning graphic designer and living design legend; two-time Emmy Award winner Danny Yount from Prodigal Films; TeamLab Director Kudo Takashi, Unit9’s Anrick Bregman and Triona Butler, Google UX Design Lead, to name a few.

It was also a weekend of firsts, with unique installations and presentations, such as the premiere of “The Moon in the Sky”, a “psychedelic algorithmic” audio-visual show by Joshua Davis.

Chris Do, founder of brand strategy design consultancy Blind, hosted a panel with motion design heroes Ash Thorp, Danny Yount and with a special appearance from Kyle Cooper. They discussed personal subjects like vulnerability and weaknesses, as well as their creative processes and future projections for the industry.

The event was also an opportunity for digital agencies to present cutting-edge technology. One unique exhibit was “Finding Stillness” by Field, an experiential agency, which featured an interactive screen allowing users to create graphic art in real time through the positions they assumed.

Digital Design Days closed with the official announcement that it will be expanding to Geneva later in 2018 and Hong Kong in 2019.
