We Love The Endangered Song…

The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute has teamed up with the Indie Rock band from Alaska called Portugal. The Man. You might be asking yourselves why? Well, we shall start off by saying it is for a great cause and one where it’s worthy to share, discuss and talk about. There are only 400 Sumatran Tigers left in this world and both the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute wanted to address this devastatingly low number by doing something different; they created a song which was entitled “Endangered Song”. They then distributed it to 400 participants. The catch was that it was made on a record which was designed to degrade after a certain amount of plays. Once the amount of plays were up, so would be the chance to listen to the song again. Now you see why the title of the song is so fitting? This project gives us an awareness to the dwindling number of Sumatran Tigers that are out there. It shows us that if nothing is done, then we will lose yet another animal to extinction and in this case, if those 400 people that got the recording, listened to it and then did nothing to share it, then it too will become extinct. So they asked the participants to digitise it, share it on their social media accounts and spread the word. Now we are spreading the word. Let’s all connect, listen and share the song so as we can widen the reaches of awareness for this cause. http://angellsound.com/2014/04/the-endangered-song/
