Peri van Papendorp

After gaining a degree in Film & Media from UCT, Peri gave advertising a whirl, joining The Jupiter Drawing Room as a junior copywriter. For the next nine years he created award-winning work for some of South Africa’s biggest brands. His work has been showcased in numerous international publications and recognised with shiny trophies from Cannes, One Show, The London International Awards, Loeries and Eagles. He was rated in the Top 10 of South African Advertising Creatives and served on the judging panel for The 2012 Loerie Awards.
With his love of storytelling, performance and humour, Peri’s primary focus has always been conceptualising and writing for TV, which naturally led him into directing. While still at Ogilvy Cape Town he began shooting spots for any clients that would let him. The first spot he directed landed him a Loerie Grand Prix, his second spot then picked up a Loerie Bronze.
Since joining GIANT Films, Peri has enjoyed a quick trajectory, shooting spots for a range of clients. With an eye for the visual, an understanding of performance and a love for concept and collaboration, Peri is on a single-minded mission to make great work that people dig.
