Alvaro Carvalho

I’m originally from Brazil with Portuguese citizenship (eligible to work in the EU). I also have permanent residence in the UK (therefore, I'm also eligible to work in the UK). I'm glad to say that I've lived and worked on three different continents: America, Asia, and Europe. It's been an amazing experience.

I started my career in 2002 as an Art Director and Graphic Designer, working for several advertising agencies.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Advertising, and I specialized in 360º Creative Communications, Art Direction, and Graphic Design at Miami Ad School, where I could improve my experience and become a much more complete professional.

I had the opportunity to work with great professionals in recognized multinational agencies, such as VMLY&R, Tribal Worldwide, TracyLocke, W/McCann, Ogilvy, Ladder, and Tag Worldwide.

I worked with major brands such as Accenture, Avanade, Arla Foods, Burger King, DEEZER, Electrolux, ENEL, Fiat, Google, Heineken, LEGO, Monzo, Santander Bank, Snickers, TRESemmé, UK Government, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Zurich Insurance.

I have over 15 international honors and awards. The most important of these is a shortlist in the Cannes Lions Festival 2017, followed by two silver trophies in the Davey Awards 2016 in New York, a silver in the Communicator Awards 2016 in New York, a gold in The W³ Awards 2016 in New York, a silver in the El Ojo de Iberoamérica 2016 in Argentina, and a publication in the Lürzer's Archive magazine, in the 200 Best Digital Artists/Illustrators worldwide 2021/22 edition.

I was also honored to be a jury member of The AdForum PHNX Tribute in 2020, 2021, and 2023, followed by the New York Festivals in 2023.

I learned and evolved a lot during my 19-year career, but I think there's always something new to learn and evolve every day. I'm always looking for something that challenges me as a professional.

I have an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit. I constantly seek new ways to capitalize on good opportunities.

I currently live in the UK, working as the Design Team Lead at Ladder. Before that, I worked at Tower 28, Los Angeles, as Creative Global Consulting and Senior Art Director at GEM Advertising, Doha's largest communication group in Qatar, doing projects for FIFA's World Cup Qatar 2022™ Supreme Committee.
