USE YOUR CREATIVITY TO IMPROVE THE WORLD – A SESSION FROM PLAYGROUND, SEOUL

ADFEST is pleased to announce that Thomas Hongtack Kim, Chief Creative Officer at Playground in Seoul, will present a session about how creative professionals can use their talents to change the world for the better.

‘Use your creativity to improve the world’ is a phrase written on the wall of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation building.

“To solve societal problems, it is essential to motivate people to change their perception and their behavior on the social agenda, and social enterprises and NGOs cannot always efficiently reach such a goal. My presentation at ADFEST will explore how Creating Shared Value has become a major trend during the last four or five years. I will also look at some successful cases that increased public awareness on the social agenda and thereafter changed the approaches towards social good,” says Kim.

Before founding Playground, Kim worked for Cheil Worldwide as Executive Creative Director of its Creative Innovation Group. Having worked in Korea, New York and Beijing, he has dealt with a wide array of clients including Samsung, Daewoo Motors, Microsoft, as well as NGOs such as UNHCR.

He was named ‘Creator of the year’ 2012 for his creative excellence by Campaign Brief Asia and has been ranked #8 in the Top 10 Executive Creative Directors worldwide in the Directory Big Won Rankings 2013 as the only Asian executive creative director.

Kim is also a very prominent and well-known ad critic in Korea. He has published six books on advertising and culture. In addition to that, as a lecturer at university and a curator, he does everything he can to share ad culture with people.

Kim’s session, “Use Your Creativity To Help” will be on Thursday 17th March at 3.15 pm.
