философия | In order to bring awareness to the harrowing fact that 1 in 5 adults struggle with mental health, on January 22, the “Hi, How Are You” Foundation and Austin City Limits, are calling for people in Austin and beyond to ask 4 little words: “Hi, how are you?” The organization tapped local creative agency GSD&M to create a social campaign: Four Little Words, which includes a PSA video and radio spot, as well as social content inspired by Austin visual artist and musician Daniel Johnston’s iconic piece of street art. PSA available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbr6-Bxtleg&feature=youtu.be. GSD&M jumped on the opportunity to take on the project pro bono having a long history of advocating for mental health issues and contributing to breaking the social silence through creativity. iHeartRadio will be broadcasting the PSA, but the brands, bands, and people involved are encouraged to share their Hi, How Are You Day experiences across social media with the hashtag #hihowareyou. In its second year, Hi, How Are You Day isn't just about the campaign -- The Flaming Lips, Yo La Tengo, Built to Spill, Gavin DeGraw, and more are taking the stage at ACL Live for a concert a la Live Aid for mental health awareness that iHeartRadio will live stream free of charge internationally. Let me know if you're interested in sharing the PSA tomorrow for Hi, How Are You Day, and/or if you'd like to connect with GSD&M and Hi, How Are You for more info on this simple, yet powerful movement. Credits and extra details below. Thanks! Claire ---- The Hi, How Are You Day concert kicks off on January 22 at ACL Live, here’s the full line-up for the night: The Flaming Lips Yo La Tengo Built to Spill The Black Angels Gavin DeGraw Bob Mould Daniel Johnston Millions of Americans struggle with mental health, and Hi, How Are You Day was created to encourage positive, healthy dialogue about mental health and remove the long-standing toxic stigma around the subject The first Hi, How Are You Day began in 2018 in Austin, and brought the community together by encouraging Austinites to check in on their neighbors, friends, co-workers, or family members to ask a simple, “Hi, how are you?” The nonprofit organization, founded by ACL’s Tom Gimbel and Courtney Blanton, takes inspiration from Austin’s own frog mural, located on the corner of Guadalupe and 21st Street, painted by Daniel Johnston, who struggles with mental health, himself. Like last year, this year’s Hi, How Are You Day takes place on Johnston’s birthday, January 22. |
