История | According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Dominican Republic leads the world in traffic accident mortality, with 64.6 deaths per one hundred thousand inhabitants per year. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of accidents during Holy Week, totaling 96 deaths. To address this situation, the #PrevencionSemanaSanta campaign was launched to raise awareness and educate people during this period. The initiative arises from the recognition that Dominicans like to record accidents with their cell phones and then be the first to share them on their social networks. This cultural truth was seized upon for the campaign observed during accident situations in crowded places throughout the country. This action increases mortality during this season. Our objective was to highlight this situation graphically and invite the population to call 911 to report these incidents as a priority. "No scoop is worth a life. Help first, call 911.", this call arises from this reality. We decided to create a social change driven by a national awareness campaign from a newspaper that prioritizes helping people in times of need by calling 911. With this campaign, Diario Libre sensitized the population about the importance of acting quickly in emergency situations to prioritize life and safety. Using the same national newspaper as the main means to invite people to save lives. |
