The bank HSBC installed billboards whose life-giving lights made Manhattan a little greener.

You’re probably aware that plants need light to grow. But did you know that photosynthesis is enhanced by certain waves of the light spectrum – like blue, for instance? The bank HSBC has pledged to reduce its environmental impact and help its clients do the same. In order to communicate the initiative, the bank and its agency Wunderman Thompson created billboards with blue backlighting, and installed them right next to the rare green spaces in Manhattan. So while talking about sustainability, the bank also shed some growth-giving light on urban plants. A rare example of posters that contributed something life-enhancing to the cityscape.

Wunderman Thompson Announces New North America Chief Executive Officer

Audrey Melofchik steps up from her role as New York CEO to oversee Wunderman Thompson offices across North America

Wunderman Thompson, a WPP agency, today announces the appointment of Audrey Melofchik as Chief Executive Officer of North America. Melofchik will be responsible for overseeing the agency’s operations across the region, stepping up from her role as CEO of the New York office. She replaces Shane Atchison who left the business in October, and will join the Wunderman Thompson Global executive committee, reporting to Wunderman Thompson Global CEO, Mel Edwards.

Audrey joined Wunderman Thompson in May 2021 to lead all agency operations in New York, including the integration of Wunderman Thompson Health. She joined from DDB New York, where she served as the President of the agency in addition to her role as President of Omnicom’s dedicated unit for Johnson & Johnson. Since joining Wunderman Thompson, Melofchik has brought the team together under one culture and operating model, set an ambitious agenda for the office and made several key hires including Rodrigo Maroni as Chief Strategy officer of the New York office and Katerina Shwayhat to lead the VW business. Under her leadership, the office has seen strong organic growth with key clients and had a host of new business wins including USA Today, J&J, Kyndryl and Pfizer.

The announcement follows a suite of executive hires across North America to move the agency’s growth strategy forward, including Karyn Rockwell as President of the Midwest region, Jenifer Mollo as Managing Director of Austin, and Wallye Holloway as Managing Director of Wunderman Thompson Health New York.
