Daniel is an award winning documentary director with a strong visual aesthetic.
His film ‘Crossing The Line’ was nominated for the Sundance Grand Jury Prize.
Dan’s feature documentary ‘Hillsborough’ aired in the US in 2014, but for legal reasons has only just been permitted to be shown in the UK – it finally went on air on BBC2 on 8th May 2016. The film reveals devastating details of the incident on April 15, 1989, that resulted in 96 fans being crushed to death during a match.

Daniel’s documentary ‘Victoria Pendleton: Cycling’s Golden Girl’ was screened on BBC One as part of the channel’s build up to the 2012 Olympics. Daniel filmed Victoria over several months, on and off the track, capturing both a unique openness and honesty and a fascinating story about the cyclist we thought we knew, brilliantly demonstrating his sensibility to film-making.
His feature documentary ‘9.79*’ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The beautifully shot film investigates the infamous and controversial 1988 Seoul Olympic men’s 100m final, won by Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson. Johnson was subsequently stripped of his gold medal after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
‘I Scored a Goal in the FIFA World Cup Final’ is a series of 34 short documentary films Daniel shot featuring testimony from the only 34 men alive today to have scored a goal in a World Cup Final. The list includes: Pele, Ronaldo, Paolo Rossi, Gerd Muller, Mario Kempes, and Geoff Hurst.
Dan is currently finishing post on ‘Don’t Look Down’ the incredible stories of Richard Branson’s attempts to cross the Atlantic and Pacific in a hot air balloon.
